Judge Elden S. Fox issued -- but held until Friday – a bench warrant for the 24-year-old actress, who was on probation for a pair of driving under the influence cases. Lohan confirmed in a Twitter posting last week that she had failed a court-ordered drug test.

"Regrettably, I did in fact fail my most recent drug test and if I am asked, I am prepared to appear before Judge Fox ... as a result," Lohan wrote on Friday. "Substance abuse is a disease, which unfortunately doesn't go away over night. I am working hard to overcome it and am taking positive steps forward every day."

Lohan spent three weeks at a drug-rehabilitation program at Ronald Reagan UCLA Medical Center last month. She went into the rehab program after serving 13 days in jail for violating her probation.

After her release from the rehabilitation program, Fox ordered Lohan to remain in Los Angeles, participate in psychotherapy counseling and chemical dependency sessions, along with 12-step meetings. She was also ordered to submit to random drug and alcohol testing no less than twice a week and attend behavioral therapy classes twice a week.

The judge ordered last month that he be notified within 72 hours of any failed or missed drug tests by Lohan.

Lohan wrote in her Twitter posting that she was "testing every single day and doing what I must do to prevent any mishaps in the future."

"This was certainly a setback for me, but I am taking responsibility for my actions and I'm prepared to face the consequences," Lohan wrote. "I am so thankful for the support of my fans, loved ones and immediate family, who understand that I am trying hard, but also that I am a work in progress, just as everyone else. I am keeping my faith and I am hopeful.... Thank you all!!!"

On May 26, 2007, Lohan crashed a Mercedes-Benz into a hedge along Sunset Boulevard near= the Beverly Hills Hotel and was arrested on suspicion of drunken driving. Some cocaine also was found in the car. Two months later, she was arrested in Santa Monica on suspicion of driving under the influence, and some cocaine was found in the jeans she was wearing.

That August, Lohan pleaded no contest to two counts each of drunken driving and being under the influence of cocaine, and one count of reckless driving.

She was sentenced to a day in jail -- but spent 84 minutes at the Century Regional Detention Facility -- and was placed on three years probation.

Lohan's probation later was extended for a year after she missed some alcohol-education classes while making a movie in Texas.

Earlier this year, Beverly Hills Judge Marsha Revel found her guilty of violating her probation by failing to attend the alcohol education classes on the schedule mandated by the court, leading to her stints in jail and rehab.
