'Law & Order' Star Dennis Farina Dies At 69
SCOTTSDALE, Ariz. (CBSLA.com) — Actor Dennis Farina of "Law & Order" has died. He was 69.
Farina's representative, Lori De Waal, says he died Monday morning at a Scottsdale, Ariz., hospital after suffering a blood clot in his lung, according to the Associated Press.
A former Chicago cop turned actor, Farina often played a cop or a crook.
He was best known for his film roles as mobster Jimmy Serrano in "Midnight Run" and Ray Barboni in "Get Shorty".
Farina spent 18 years with the Chicago Police Department before starting his career as an actor.
His first film role was in 1981's "Thief". He then dabbled in the theater scene before transitioning into television with roles on shows including "Miami Vice", "In-Laws" and "Law & Order".
He most recently was in the HBO drama series, "Luck".
Farina is survived by three sons and six grandchildren.
