LAPD Releases New Safety Tips For Students
LOS ANGELES (CBS) — The Los Angeles Police Department's Mission Division announced Monday the "Turn It Down, Tone It Down and Write It Down" initiative aimed at reducing dangers faced by students.
Turn It Down pertains to the use of cell phones and personal entertainment devices among students walking to school, which make it harder for them to hear traffic and audible warnings.
Tone It Down encourages students not to become easy targets for theft by wearing flashy items that could be associated with gangs.
Write It Down means students should quickly report bullying, drug use, weapon violence and rumors of violence.
Students can be discreet and even anonymous, but reporting dangerous activities can save lives.
The Mission Division serves Mission Hills, North Hills, Panorama City and Sylmar.
