LA Metro partially restores bus line through Malibu and Santa Monica

Los Angeles Metro partially restored the bus line between Malibu and Santa Monica for the first time since the Palisades Fire started in early January.

Beginning on Friday, Feb. 28, Line 134 will have four stops along Pacific Coast Highway at Malibu Pier, Cross Creek Road, Civic Center Way and Malibu Canyon Road between Malibu and Trancas Canyon Road. The bus will also have stops in Santa Monica between the downtown E Line station and the Ocean and Colorado Avenues intersection.

Line 134 will not have stops, including courtesy stops, between Rambla Vista and Temescal Canyon because of the 10-mile work zone along PCH.

"Restoring public transportation access to Malibu is a critical step in our community's recovery," Malibu Mayor Doug Stewart said. "This modified service strikes a careful balance of safety and ensuring residents, workers, and business patrons have a safe and reliable way to travel through the area."

Riders should expect delays due to the partial closures on PCH between Santa Monica and Malibu. Only one lane will be open in each direction, and the speed limit between Chautauqua Boulevard and Carbon Beach Terrace will be 25 mph.

"While the impact of the Palisades Fire remains, this marks an important milestone in reconnecting our city and supporting those who depend on public transit," Stewart said.
