LA County Offers Kids A Round Of Golf For $1 In July
LOS ANGELES (CBS) — Starting Friday, you can spend an afternoon on the green without spending a lot of it.
In honor of "Junior Golfers Appreciation Month", kids and teens ages 18 and under can play a round of afternoon golf at county golf courses for just $1 throughout the month of July.
Supervisor Don Knabe backed the move and received the unanimous support of the Board of Supervisors to drop green fees to $1.
"Youth sports programs have traditionally been valuable recreational activities for the young residents of Los Angeles County," Knabe said. "Not only do they offer an opportunity for kids of all ages to learn new physical, social and mental skills, but youth sports also serve as a crime deterrent."
Junior golfers can play for just a buck at any of 17 county golf courses after 12 p.m. when accompanied by someone paying a regular adult fee, senior fee, twilight fee or super-twilight fee.
The courses will also hold free lessons, clinics and contests to encourage participation.
