KCAL9 To Broadcast LA KISS Arena Football Games

LOS ANGELES (CBSLA.com) — KCAL9 will broadcast LA KISS Arena Football games during the 2014 season, it was announced Wednesday.

KCAL9 will begin coverage of five home games and three roads games starting with the team's second home game against the Cleveland Gladiators on April 12.

"We are excited to have the opportunity to partner with the legendary Gene Simmons and Paul Stanley and help them reintroduce Arena Football to Southern California," said Steve Mauldin, President and General Manager of KCAL9 and CBS2. "Clearly, these are people who have mastered the art of showmanship and we look forward to providing our viewers with a front row seat to the inaugural season of L.A. KISS Football through our game broadcasts and coverage during our Sports Central sports newscasts."

LA KISS, which is the newest member in the AFL, will play home games at the Honda Center and will feature fast-paced football action and unrivaled pre-game and half-time entertainment.

"Working with the pinnacle TV station in LA and one that would contribute significantly to promote LA KISS is a big win and certainly the ideal home for the team's broadcasts," LA KISS President, Schuyler Hoversten, said.

KCAL9 and sister station CBS2 collectively are the region's largest local TV news organization.

"This partnership provides LA KISS with the opportunity to introduce a broader audience to something that will captivate the Southern California region," Hoversten said. "From the fast paced, high scoring, in your face action of the game to a live experience designed by two of the best entertainers of all-time, our games will provide fans and the viewers at home something they have never seen before!"
