Josh Rubenstein's Weather Forecast (December 12)

STUDIO CITY (CBS) — An area of low pressure spinning off-shore will bring us some rain Monday morning.

Right now, a wave of energy is pushing through the area. Expect rain through the morning commute.

It will then taper off slightly before another band of showers pushes through overnight into Tuesday morning. The rain should be light at first before we get some steady rainfall.

The cold air will arrive Monday evening when snow levels drop down to near 3,000 feet.

We could even see some lower snow in the Antelope Valley. If you have plans to get to Lancaster or Palmdale early Tuesday morning, you might have problems along the 14 Freeway.

Rain totals will be about half an inch when we are done with the event.

It looks like some of the worst instability will be off-shore and down south of the border, but there is a chance for a thunderstorm and a couple of heavy downpours in foothill communities.

A winter storm warning will be in effect from 10 a.m. Monday through 10 a.m. Tuesday. Expect eight to 14 inches of snow above 5,000 feet.
