Josh Rubenstein's Weather Forecast (September 7)

(CBS) — Get ready for a Southland scorcher: temperatures will reach into the upper 90s and 100s for our valleys. However, beach communities will also be feeling the heat.

Look for daytime highs at the coast ranging between 86 to 90 degrees. A strong ridge of high pressure is just over the border in Mexico...but it will dominate our forecast through the middle of the week. The monsoonal flow is waning...so expect it to be a dry heat.

We will experience a cool down on Friday as a cutoff low approaches and then more cooling into the weekend.

But, I'll get to that forecast later this week. For the time being, try and stay cool.

Coastal — upper 80s
Basin — upper 90s
Valleys — 100s
Mountains — upper 70s
Deserts — 100s
