Inside SoCal: 4/24 wrap-up

Autry Museum of the American West

The Autry Museum of the American West brings together the stories of all peoples of the American West, connecting the past with the present to inspire our shared future.

The Autry Museum in Griffith Park, originally the Gene Autry Museum of Western Heritage, was co-founded by Jackie and Gene Autry and Joanne and Monte Hale. With the opening of the Museum in 1988, Gene Autry realized his dream "to build a museum which would exhibit and interpret the heritage of the West and show how it influenced America and the world." Mr. Autry was a legendary recording and movie star whose illustrious career spanned some 60 years in the entertainment industry. He was an astute businessman, Chairman of the Board of a broadcasting empire, and owner of a Major League Baseball team. His legacy lives on in many ways, but especially through the art and exhibitions at the museum.

Desert 5 Spot

Desert 5 Spot is the new rooftop bar that brings the vibe of vintage Palm Springs and the soul of Pioneertown to Hollywood. Inspired by Joshua Tree hideouts, throwback roadside motels, and cosmic Americana, they serve up their famous margaritas and cold canned beers.

Featuring daily live performances by their in-house band, The Desert 5, weekend DJ's and old-fashioned jukeboxes playing a blend of country hits and classic rock, they welcome one and all to leave their tensions and pretensions at the door, and let the good times roll.

And don't miss country music line dancing lessons from the pro! Mike Bendavid is an award-winning DJ and country dance instructor. Previously named Country Dance DJ of the year, he's choreographed for TV, film and taught celebrities how to dance. Click HERE to see when Mike will be teaching line dancing, plus other fun events happening.
