Husband, 36, Taken Into Custody After Allegedly Firing Gun At His Wife

LANCASTER (CBS) — A 36-year-old man was arrested Saturday on suspicion of assault with a deadly weapon after firing a gunshot toward his wife in Lancaster, authorities said.

The shooting occurred in the 44000 block of Stanridge Avenue around 6 p.m. Friday, said Detective Dan Welle of the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department Lancaster Station.

Trisha Vanrossum told deputies her husband, Michael Vanrossum, shot at her with a .22 caliber pistol, Welle said.

She also told them after shooting at her, he fled in his blue Honda Odyssey van. Deputies found the vehicle in the 9000 block of East Pillsbury Street, and Vanrossum was arrested around 2:30 a.m. while leaving a vacant home nearby, Welle said. He then led deputies to the gun used in the shooting.

Vanrossum was booked on suspicion of assault with a deadly weapon and was being held in lieu of $50,000.
