Helpful Honda gifts couples honeymoon surprise at Long Beach's Cute Little Wedding Chapel
Love is in the air at a small upstairs unit of Long Beach's Cute Little Wedding Chapel.
With more than 7,000 weddings under his belt, owner Alan Katz said Valentine's Day is by the busiest day of the year for officiating weddings.
"Every half hour they are coming in," he said.
For Kerry and Kimberly Johnson, it's been a long time coming.
"We met probably 45 years ago," Kerry said.
Thanks to Facebook, the two reconnected nine years ago. They drove from Barstow to get married in their hometown.
"Let's do it on Valentine's Day, that way you can't forget," Kimberly said.
However, there was another reason the couple chose Katz and his place.
The average price of a California wedding is more than $36,000. The usual price at the Cute Little Wedding Chapel is $425. But, on Feb. 14 every year they drop the price to just $14.
The moment Mallory and Chloe Covarrubias found out about the special they signed up.
"That was a big factor, perfect timing," Mallory said. "The rain stopped for a second and everything lined up."
Some couples even got an extra surprise — a little something blue from the Helpful Honda folks. Throughout Los Angeles County, the Helpful Honda folks handed out vouchers worth $700 to $2,500 for their honeymoons.
