Get To Know The Newly Acquired Dodgers

LOS ANGELES (CBSLA.com) — The MLB trade deadline passed Monday afternoon as the Dodgers added three players that should have an instant impact on the team's playoff push.

The first trade made today by L.A. was with the Oakland Athletics, as they acquired LHP Rich Hill and OF Josh Reddick for a trio of prospects: Grant Holmes, Frankie Montas, and Jharrel Cotton.

The bullpen also added another arm as the Dodgers received RHP Jesse Chavez from the Toronto Blue Jays for Mike Bolsinger.

Here's what you need to know about the new boys in blue heading into the final stretch of the season.

Rich Hill:

Hill is currently on the DL with a blister problem, but once healthy he will help add depth to a very depleted rotation.  Especially with Bud Norris (who was acquired after Kershaw went on DL) likely joining Clayton Kershaw, Hyun-Jin Ryu, Alex Wood, and Brett Anderson on the disabled list.  This season, Hill has a 9-3 record and 2.25 ERA over 76 innings of work.  The lefty could become a major player for the Dodgers as news about Kershaw returning this season remains uncertain.

Josh Reddick:

Reddick, who's a left-handed hitter, will have an instant impact on the Dodger's lineup, as production from both corner outfield positions have been less then satisfactory.  The platoon of Howie Kendrick, Trayce Thompson, and Scott Van Slyke has been nothing shy of disappointing.

Reddick, who played right field for the Athletics, most likely will be moving to left field with the Dodgers being unable to move Yasiel Puig. Puig will continue to roam right field, and try to figure it out at the plate as the season continues barring any more injuries. Reddick this season so far is hitting .296 with eight home runs, 28 RBIs, and 72 runs scored.

Jesse Chavez:

Chavez, who began his career as a reliever before making the transition to starter a few seasons ago, will be assuming another bullpen role for the Dodgers. This season in 41.1 innings, Chavez has an ERA of 4.57 and a WHIP of 1.28 to go with his 42 strikeouts. Chavez will add much needed depth to the bullpen as the team plans on making a run deep into October.
