Garcetti Talks Runaway Production In 1st 'Ask The Mayor' Q&A

LOS ANGELES ( — Mayor Eric Garcetti signaled his support to boost film and TV production in the city of Los Angeles Thursday during a live on-air Q&A session with KNX 1070 NEWSRADIO.

For the first time since assuming office on July 1, Garcetti took part in "Ask the Mayor," an hour-long listener call-in show aired exclusively on KNX 1070 NEWSRADIO and hosted by KNX 1070 news anchor Tom Haule and chief investigative reporter Charles Feldman.

Garcetti said he will sign a bill Friday that will allow TV companies to film a pilot within city limits for free in order to draw in additional revenue.

"I'm very excited to be signing that, I got to introduce it as a Council member, now I get to sign it as Mayor," Garcetti said. "Together with my new film czar, Tom Sherak, we're really gonna fight that fight to bring Hollywood back to Hollywood."

Garcetti, who won a nonpartisan election in May, was previously a member of the L.A. City Council and served as council president from 2006-2012.

As part of the quarterly "Ask The Mayor", Angelenos are invited to pose questions directly to Mayor Garcetti by calling 866-569-1070 or through Twitter using #knxmayor.
