Former Teacher's Aide In Westlake Charged With Lewd Acts On Boy

LOS ANGELES (CBS) — A former teacher's aide was charged Monday for allegedly committing lewd acts on a boy over the course of nearly three years, beginning when the child was 12 years old.

Jorge Luis Dominguez pleaded not guilty at his arraignment, and a judge set his bail at $1.07 million. A hearing was scheduled for June 1, when a date will be set for a hearing to determine if there is enough evidence for him
to stand trial.

The 25-year-old suspect was a teacher's aide and helped with the after-school program at Gratts Elementary School in the Westlake district.

Prosecutors said the victim was not a Gratts student. Dominguez reportedly met him when he worked as a youth sports coach at the Los Angeles Academy of Arts & Enterprise, located west of Downtown L.A.

Dominguez was arrested Thursday and charged Monday with 10 counts of lewd acts on a child under 14 years old, and one count each of lewd act on a child 14 or older and for possession of child pornography.

The Los Angeles Unified School District fired Dominguez shortly after his arrest.

The former teacher's aide allegedly abused the boy between June 2009 and his arrest last week, according to the District Attorney's Office.

Dominguez faces up to 27 years in prison if convicted.
