Father Charged With Kidnapping 2-Year-OId Daughter During Supervised Visit In LA

LOS ANGELES (CBSLA.com) — A father who allegedly abducted his 2-year-old toddler during a supervised visit on Christmas Eve has been charged, officials said Wednesday.

According to the Los Angeles County District Attorney's Office, Jack Perry, 31, of Santa Monica, has been charged with one felony count each of kidnapping and child stealing.

Perry is scheduled to be arraigned on the charges Wednesday. Prosecutors are expected to request for his bail to be set at $1 million.

On Monday night, Perry was taken into custody after a witness reported seeing him with his daughter, Lucia, at an apartment in Palm Springs, according to the Los Angeles Police Department.

Officers with the Palm Springs Police Department explained Perry had rented the residence using a fictitious name.

Lucia was found unharmed inside of the apartment. She has since been reunited with her mother, Elise, who lives in the San Fernando Valley.

According to KNX 1070's Claudia Peschiutta, Perry is a British national who does not have custody of his daughter.

He is currently being held at the Los Angeles Valley Jail Section. If convicted as charged, Perry faces up to 14 years in state prison.

The case remains under investigation by the LAPD.
