Summer vacation may have ended for some Los Angeles area school children, but the season is still going strong -- and there are plenty of summer festivals to enjoy on the weekends. Here's a sample:

The promoters make this sound like carnivore heaven, with promises of "Pork Ribs, Beef Ribs, Tri-Tip, Pulled Pork, Chicken, Sausages and more" at a big ol' cook-off. There's even an international food court, just in case barbecue isn't your thing. A children's area with carnival rides, bounces, magicians, and storytellers ensures that everyone in the family will have fun here.

Bring a picnic dinner to enjoy under the stars at the LA Arboretum as the California Philharmonic Orchestra concludes its 2011 series of summer concerts. Scheduled is a live performance of popular classical and film music, including the themes from Pirates of the Caribbean, and Titanic.

Mixed bag of events showcasing Japanese culture at the Orange County Fairgrounds. Entertainment includes a fashion show, custom car show, True Budo martial arts showcase, Taiko Drums, Jazz show and Japanese dance performances. Adults may be interested in sampling the goods at the Sake Village. There will, of course, be a Kids Zone for the little ones to run around.
