DUI Driver Arrested After Striking Pole, Parked Patrol Car In LA

LOS ANGELES (CBSLA.com) —  Police were on the scene of a traffic collision Monday that involved a pick-up truck in the Pico-Union area.

At 1:30 a.m., a traffic collision occurred in the 1700 block of South Vermont Avenue.

According to the Los Angeles Police Department, the driver of a pick-up truck swerved to avoid hitting a pedestrian, and struck a power pole.

The collision caused the power pole to fall while officers conducted an investigation into the crash.

Officers said the driver then struck a parked patrol car.

No injuries were reported.

The driver was arrested for being under the influence at the scene.

Shortly after 4 a.m., city officials reopened Vermont Avenue to morning commuters.
