Corona Police Chief Madory Announces Retirement

CORONA (CBS) — Corona Police Chief Richard Madory announced plans to step down by the end of the year through the city's early retirement program, it was reported Saturday.

Madory, who has been with the department since Jan. 1986, would officially retire on Dec. 30, The Press-Enterprise reported.

Capt. Mike Abel is expected to serve as the interim chief until a recruitment process is complete.

Madory took over on Sept. 11, 2008, replacing Richard Gonzales.
