Standoff Suspect Found Dead After Lancaster House Fire
LANCASTER (CBSLA.com) — The body of a standoff suspect was found in an Antelope Valley home following a fire, officials said Friday.
The standoff started around 5 p.m. Thursday in the 45000 block of Gadsden Avenue in Lancaster, the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department said.
An armed and wanted felon barricaded himself in a home and refused to come out for hours, despite the use of flash-bang grenades and tear gas.
Authorities said that a fire started at the home around 11 p.m.
"Special weapons deputies entered the residence at approximately 11:45 p.m., put out the fire, and found the suspect deceased," officials said.
The cause of death is unknown and will be determined by the coroner.
