Billingsley Dominates Padres As Dodgers Win 6-0
SAN DIEGO (CBS) -- Chad Billingsley proved Spring Training doesn't mean anything.
The 27-year-old shook off a miserable exhibition season by dominating the San Diego Padres (0-2) in his first start of the season, throwing 8.1 shutout innings, while striking out 11 and allowing three hits as the Dodgers blanked the Padres, 6-0.

While Billingsley was simply masterful on the mound, Andre Ethier provided the offense for Los Angeles.
Ethier slugged a two-run double in the first inning off the southpaw, Cory Luebke, and then Ethier chased Luebke in the sixth inning with a two-run triple, giving the Dodgers a 6-0 lead.
"Bills, obviously right out of the gate, was really good," Don Mattingly said to reporters. "Andre gets us going with two in the first off a lefty. Really, both of those guys kind of set the tone for us."
Mark Ellis, Matt Kemp and Juan Rivera also had two hits for the Dodgers.
Jamey Wright got the final two outs to secure the Dodgers' victory.
Chris Capuano will make his Dodgers debut on Saturday night against Dustin Moseley.
