"Battle: Los Angeles" Wins Weekend Box Office War
LOS ANGELES (CBS) — "Battle: Los Angeles" won the war of the weekend box office, collecting $35.6 million in its debut, according to final figures released Monday.
The film about an alien invasion of Los Angeles topped the box office by outlasting the animated lizard-Western adventure "Rango," which finished second with $22.6 million, according to Hollywood.Com Box-Office.
The horror-thriller "Red Riding Hood" debuted in third place, earning $14 million, while the Matt Damon romance-thriller "The Adjustment Bureau" collected $11.6 million to finish fourth. Disney's animated 3-D film "Mars Needs Moms" earned $6.9 million in its debut to take fifth place.
Rounding out the top 10 were "Beastly" ($5.02 million); "Hall Pass" ($5.01 million); "Just Go With It" ($4 million); "Gnomeo and Juliet" ($3.6 million) and "The King's Speech" ($3.5 million).
