Authorities Nab Alleged Sheriff's Deputy Impersonator

WILDOMAR (CBS) — A man accused of impersonating a sheriff's deputy while allegedly soliciting funds for a supposed charity is behind bars.

Sheriff's Sgt. Peter Giannakakos says 29-year-old Justin Lee Stultz was dressed in a "quasi-law enforcement" uniform, including a pistol belt and other equipment, as he approached people in houses in the residential 32000 block of Wildomar Road.

Giannakakos says Stultz was posing as a Riverside County sheriff's deputy, going door-to-door asking for cash donations that were ostensibly to help an injured deputy.

Stultz had a list of people who had given him money when he was taken into custody, Giannakakos said. He has been arrested at least once before for impersonating another person, according to authorities.

Stultz remains behind bars with bail set at $25,000.
