Arrest Made In Violent Attack On Riverside Teen At Comic Con

RIVERSIDE ( — Police have made an arrest in the bloody attack on a 17-year-old female teen at Comic Con.

It was unclear where and when the attack took place, but San Diego Harbor Police announced they have a 29-year-old suspect in custody.

CBS2's Tom Wait has been following the story.

The victim, a Riverside teen, posted several photos from Comic Con. Hours after the photos were put online, the unnamed victim was found bloodied and unconscious.

According to blog posts, Wait says the teen disappeared after a disagreement and was found after a frantic search.

The teen's mother posted a message online after her daughter was found.

"I just received a call from the San Diego Police Department and my daughter was found on the side of the road covered in blood with no ID, unconscious. They are unsure what happened to her," the teen's mother wrote.

Wait says it's not clear if the alleged attacker knew the teen or if the attacker attended Comic Con and met her there.

Investigators will only say the suspect was picked up on Sunday morning of charges of sexual contact with a minor and contributing to the delinquency of a minor.

On Wednesday evening, they identified the suspect. They also said the suspect was arrested in a hotel in the 300 block of West Harbor Drive.

On the teen's mother's Facebook page, she posted this message Monday:

"Dear Friends - (we) want to send our thanks to all our friends for all the prayers and supportive messages you've sent regarding our precious daughter … We are truly heartbroken by recent events but so grateful for the abundance of love being sent in this sad time."

Wait says the family has received an outpouring of support from friends and strangers.

He also said he reached out to the family to see if he could find out more about what happened.

Police said the investigation is on going.
