Anaheim Man, 20, Pleads Not Guilty To Murdering His Girlfriend In Front Of Their 3 Children
SANTA ANA (CBS) — A 20-year-old Anaheim man pleaded not guilty Friday of murdering his girlfriend in front of the couple's three young children last month.
Samuel Oscar Montes pleaded not guilty to murder, three felony counts of child abuse and possession of a controlled substance. He is also charged with child endangerment, according to court records.
The Orange County District Attorney's Office accuses Montes of getting into an argument with Nicole Gutierrez in their Anaheim home about 2:30 p.m. on August 27.
The DA says the fight, which involved a gun, escalated. Gutierrez was fatally shot in the head in front of their three children -- a 3-year-old boy, a 1-year-old girl and a 1-month-old boy.
Officials say Montes fled but when he returned was found with methamphetamine on his person.
