6th Sense Leads Graves, Bulldogs Past Serra

(CBS/Rahshaun Haylock) -- Before Serra could even blink, they looked up and they were trailing Folsom 14-0 early in the first quarter.

The Bullodogs scored twice on their first six plays courtesy of touchdown passes number 60 and 61 of the season for Dano Graves as Folsom beat Serra 48-20 in the Division II State Bowl Game.

Finally a team stood in front of the Cavaliers that had just as much (if not more) firepower and the ability to go blow for blow.

Momentum shifted in favor of the Cavaliers when Raymond Ford picked off a Graves pass. What ensued was a Marqise Lee 25-yard touchdown reception for six of 20 straight points by Serra to take a 20-14 lead in the 2nd quarter.

But that would be the end of the scoring for the Cavs. After a Shaquille Richard 16-yard touchdown run, Francisco Olloqui missed the extra point. Folsom regained the lead on a Graves two-yard touchdown run.

Serra (14-1) took over with under a minute remaining in the first half and Conner Preston orchestrated a 2-minute offense that would make even Tom Brady blush. With three seconds remaining in the half, Olloqui was called on for a 22 yard field goal that was no good. Serra trailed 21-20 at halftime.

The Cavs third quarter was brutal. It featured a Shaquille Richard fumble, and a Preston interception in the endzone.

The fourth quarter saw a special teams miscue as the Bulldogs recovered a squib kick on a kickoff.

On Serra's ensuing possesion, Preston threw a pick six to Jordan Richards.

Uncharacteristic turnoves in a nightmarish second half for Serra led to Folsom (14-1) winning their first State Bowl Title and snapped Serra's state high 29-game win streak.

The 5'9" Graves finished with three touchdown passes and rushed for three scores. Graves, a state Player of the Year candidate, concludes 2010 with a combined 85 touchdowns (62 passing, 23 rush), a state record. All three of Graves touchdowns went to Oregon State commit Tyler Trosin.

Serra committed five turnovers. In his final prep game, USC commit George Farmer finished with four catches for 113 yards and a touchdown.

The win gives the north their third win in these State Bowl Championships and marks the first time the NorCal has won the series.
