4th Grade Class In Beverly Hills Donates 3,000 Books To Another School In Need

WESTCHESTER ( — A very special donation made its way to an elementary school in Westchester.

A 4th grade class at Hawthorne Elementary in Beverly Hills collected nearly 3,000 gently-used books and donated them Friday to WISH Charter Elementary School in Westchester.

The event is part of a donation effort called "BookEnds."

Students from the two schools got to read together as part of the day.

Gretchen Blake, BookEnds director of programs, says "It's about kids helping kids. It's really unique in that students are doing all of the work. The kids in Beverly Hills are surrounded by books. We plant the seed in their head that there are students out there that don't have as many, and would you like to do something about it?"
