29-Year-Old Substitute Teacher Gets 3 Years For Sexually Molesting Male Student
LOS ANGELES (CBSLA.com) — Authorities said a 29-year-old substitute teacher was sentenced Thursday to three years in state prison after he was convicted of sexually abusing a high school student.
Aaron Joseph Alvidrez pleaded no contest to two felony counts of sodomy of a person under 18 and meeting a minor for lewd purposes.
In addition to the prison sentence, Los Angeles County Superior Court Judge Eric Harmon also ordered Alvidrez to register as a lifetime sex offender and to stay away from the victim for the next 10 years.
At the time of the crime Alvidrez was a substitute teacher at Highland High School in Palmdale.
Between Sept. 22 and Oct. 3, 2014, the defendant sexually abused the 17-year-old male victim in a classroom and inside Alvidrez's vehicle. The student had been enrolled in a special needs program, officials said.
Alvidrez was arrested at a residence in Lancaster and later charged on the same day, Oct. 21, 2014.
The case was investigated by the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department Special Victims Bureau.
