VAN NUYS (CBSLA.com) — Police sought the public's help Monday to locate a 2-year-old girl who has been reported missing in Van Nuys.
According to the Los Angeles Police Department, Lucia Perry was last seen around 5 p.m. on Thursday during a supervised visit with her father, Jack Perry, 31, at The Grove shopping center.
Officers said the person who was supervising the visitation lost sight of Lucia and Jack during this time.
"I feel so helpless," Elise Perry, the child's mother said.
"I'm so sad. It's been the holidays and you know she's honestly never spent a night away from me," Perry added.
Perry is a resident of the Santa Monica area, and the child's mother lives in the San Fernando Valley, said Lt. Jim Gavin of the LAPD's Van Nuys station.
The child and her father were last seen Sunday at a hotel in Beverly Hills, according to Gavin. He said Perry is considered a potential flight risk because he comes from an affluent family and has access to private aircraft.
"They don't fly commercial. They're known to fly private," the lieutenant said.
KNX 1070's Claudia Peschiutta reports police say Perry - who is a British national - doesn't have custody of daughter and could try to leave the U.S. with his daughter.
Perry, who Gavin said has a "minor criminal history," is considered to be a suspect in the case, police said.
"She's my little girl. I love her so much. I just want to know she's safe. I don't want her to feel stress or anything like that. I dont wanthim to run - I just want him to feel safe to bring her back," Perry said.
Lucia is a Caucasian girl who has blond hair and blue eyes. She stands 2-foot-6 tall, has a small build and was last seen wearing pink sweatpants, a yellow T-shirt and hot pink Nike shoes.
Anyone with information regarding the whereabouts of Lucia has been urged to contact the Los Angeles Police Department at (818) 374-1913.
