2 teens stabbed at Westfield Topanga mall, LAPD says
Two teens were stabbed at the Westfield Topanga mall on Thursday afternoon.
The stabbings happened at about 4:15 p.m. when two unidentified juvenile suspects approached the two 15-year-old boys near the 6600 block of Topanga Canyon Blvd, according to the Los Angeles Police Department. Investigators said the suspects made comments about a gold chain one of the teens was wearing before attempting to snatch it.
The teens struggled with the suspects as other bystanders jumped in to intervene. During the altercation, one of the suspects took out a knife and stabbed one of the boys in the arm. The other victim sustained a laceration to the back of his head. Both of the boys are expected to survive.
Officers said the suspects ran away from the mall on Owensmouth Avenue after stealing the gold chain. Police did not immediately locate the suspects.
Investigators believe the suspects were between 16-18 years old. One was wearing a black hoodie, blue jeans and black shoes. The other was wearing a dark-colored hoodie, a brown fanny pack, black pants and black shoes.
