2 Men Accused Of Dressing In Drag To Pull Off Credit Scam

MANHATTAN BEACH (AP) — Manhattan Beach police say they've arrested two men for running credit scams on businesses while dressed as women, including the fraudulent purchase of an Infiniti SUV.

Police spokeswoman Stephanie Martin said Tuesday that 28-year-old Cornell Jackson and 24-year-old Marquet Dorsey were charged with multiple felonies last week for making at least 40 fraudulent purchases.

Martin says when their fake credit cards were declined, the other suspect would pose as credit company representatives on the phone and provided fake authorization numbers.

Martin says Jackson is accused of fraudulently paying a $2,900 hotel room bill at a Hawthorne Days Inn.

She says Dorsey opened a fake credit account using a counterfeit driver's license to impersonate a Los Angeles woman and buy a $15,000 Infinity SUV.

Detectives recovered the vehicle and returned it.
