2 Long Beach Dog Rescue Workers Accused Of Animal Cruelty Post Bail, Give Up Dogs
LONG BEACH (CBS) — Two Long Beach women posted $100,000 bail Tuesday after appearing in court on charges of animal cruelty.
Bonnie Sheehan and Pamela King-McCracken of Hearts for Hounds, which was founded in Long Beach, were pulled over by a Tennessee state trooper while on their way to Virginia. The women were found transporting 140 dogs in a U-Haul truck and minivan with no food or water.
Sheehan and King-McCracken agreed to turn over custody of all their animals to Fayette County Animal Services.
Sheehan and King-McCracken's arraignment was postponed by the judge, who wants to look into who in Long Beach helped the women pack the animals into the U-Haul and whether any others are culpable.
They are expected back in court again on Feb. 21.
