TARRANT COUNTY (CBS11) - Chevrolet set a new Guinness World Record at Texas Motor Speedway.
A 2017 Silverado HD powered by a new version of the Duramax 6.6L V-8 turbo-diesel engine pulled a 3,200 square foot American flag and Texas state flag.
The pick-ups did four laps around the Texas Motor Speedway. Chevy drivers took part in a parade lap behind the flags.
"It brings a chill when you think about all that was sacrificed for all the freedom we have now. I just love the experience," said Chevy driver Randy Wonderlich.
It was more than a world record or a new title. The event filled people with hope.
"With there just being so much discord in our country, I think it's important to pull together and show our patriotism, and show the world how we are still united as a country," added Wonderlich.
Both flags will be on display at the State Fair of Texas which begins at Fair Park Friday, September 30.
