The TV Westerns Return To TXA 21
We are so delighted to tell you that, for a limited time, KTXA will be airing some of the best network television programming from its golden age and a successful genre……. the WESTERN!
Our schedule, starting Monday, 6/9, will be as follows:
*Mondays, 7pm: Bonanza
*Tuesdays, 7pm: Gunsmoke
*Wednesdays, 7pm: Branded (then Texas Music Scene)
*Thursdays, 7pm: Wild Wild West
*Fridays. 7pm (only when the Rangers are at 9pm or when there is no game): Wild Wild West
*Sundays, 12nn: The Guns Of Will Sonnett
Inside Edition will move to 6:30pm weekdays.
To familiarize yourself with these shows, below is a short synopsis of each program:
BONANZA: Ran on NBC from 1959-1973 and 431 episodes, Bonanza follows the adventures of Ben Cartwright and his sons as they run and defend their Nevada ranch, The Ponderosa just off Lake Tahoe, while helping the surrounding community. Stars Lorne Greene (Battlestar Galactica), Dan Blocker, Michael Landon (Little House On The Prairie and Highway To Heaven), and Pernell Roberts (Trapper John M.D.). Great guest stars.
GUNSMOKE: Started originally on the CBS Radio Network in 1952, the show moved to the CBS Television Network in 1955 until its cancellation in 1975. 635 episodes, 227 in color. Stars James Arness as Marshall Matt Dillon of Dodge City KS who maintains law and order in the Old West. Co stars are Ken Curtis, Milburn Stone, and Amanda Blake.
BRANDED: Ran on NBC from 1965-1966, 48 episodes. Stars Chuck Connors (The Rifleman) who plays a former Cavalry Captain, Jason MCord, branded as a coward who roams the West trying to prove his innocence.
WILD WILD WEST: Ran on CBS from 1965-1969, 104 episodes. Stars Robert Conrad and Ross Martin as two Secret Service agents under President U.S. Grant who with a wide array of gizmos fight crime in the Old West.
GUNS OF WILL SONNETT: Ran on ABC from 1967-1969. 50 episodes. Stars Walter Brennan (successful Hollywood movie actor and later star of the hit TV show, "The Real McCoys"), Dack Rambo, and Jason Evers. Brennan stars as an old former Army scout that, along with his grandson, Jeff (Rambo), search the Old West looking for his son.
The action starts this Monday, 7pm, 6/9/14….. Only TXA 21!
