ARGYLE (CBSDFW.COM) - One person died and three others were injured Thursday morning when the steel frame of a building under construction collapsed at Argyle High School. The incident happened just before 8:00 a.m. as crews worked on a new indoor activity center.

Argyle Independent School District superintendent Telena Wright stated that one person died in the collapse and three other individuals were hurt. All of the victims were construction workers. No names have been released.

Two of the injured workers have already been released from a hospital in Denton. The condition of the third worker is not known.

"My thoughts go out to the family of the deceased," Wright said early Thursday. "It's a terrible, terrible, terrible tragedy and I am so very sorry."

Wright added that no students or school staff members were near the structure at the time of the collapse.

The building was being constructed by Northstar Builders Group, which is based in Coppell and just went into business in 2012. A $45 million bond package that was approved last year included money for the $3.7 million activity center, to be used by the school's band and athletics groups.

The project had been under construction for about three months and was scheduled to be complete by the fall. Officials have not said how this incident will impact that work.

Investigators are now looking into what may have caused the structure to collapse, including the possibility that it was downed by strong winds. The Texas Department of Public Safety has been flying over the construction site on Thursday morning.
