FARMERSVILLE (CBSDFW.COM) - Classes were cancelled at Farmersville Junior High on Tuesday after vandals set an early morning fire inside the school, which caused significant damage and severe flooding to the campus.

About 400 6th-8th graders attend the junior high, and they were all sent home once school officials determined the damage was too extensive.

Police were called to the school, located at 501 N State Highway 78, shortly after 6 a.m. to find one of the school's restrooms on fire.  The flames were contained within the restroom and an adjoining highway.

Tuesday afternoon, fire investigators marshal and insurance agents were on the campus assessing the damage.  Police are investigating the crime.

Meanwhile, students will be moved to three other schools while repairs to the junior high are completed.  6th graders will be sent to Tatum Elementary School. 7th graders will go to the intermediate School.  8th graders will be housed at the high school.

No word on how long it will take to clean up the damage.
