Art Exhibit Features Bacon Fat, Coffee Grounds & Egg Shells
DALLAS (CBS 11 NEWS) - Bacon fat, coffee grounds and egg shells... believe it or not that's what you'll find at a new exhibition at the Dallas Museum of Art.
What most of us throw away, Stephen Lapthisophon uses as art. So why does he turn trash into treasure? "There's a lot of beauty and poetry of everyday life that I want everyone to see, so by using the materials of everyday life I hope that brings into play a little bit."
While most of his works are on paper, his exhibition includes more. "There are a couple of photographs and then there are those everyday objects that are somewhere in that in between land of work of art and object and then to a certain extent the whole exhibition acts as one piece."
The space also shows you the artists life, from the different layers of his work to even beyond his walls.
The exhibition is the 56th installment of the Concentrations series, a series the DMA has been doing since 1981 as a way to recognize international artists. Stephen Lapthisophon: Coffee, Seasonal Fruit, Root Vegetables, and "Selected Poems" is a free exhibition and will be at the DMA through March 30.
