About Scott Braddock

With over ten years of experience in radio, Scott Braddock brought his love for broadcasting to Newsradio 1080 KRLD in April 2008.

Most recently, Scott served as Chief Political Reporter for Newsradio 740 KTRH in Houston, where he was honored with an Edward R. Murrow award for investigative journalism and received recognition for excellence and fairness in political reporting from members of Texas' Congressional delegation.

During his five years in Houston, he covered a broad range of issues with a special focus on education and immigration, two of the most important issues facing Texas and the nation.  He also reported on stories of national importance including Hurricane Katrina, the prosecution of former House Majority Leader Tom DeLay, Andrea Yates' release from prison, the death of Enron founder Ken Lay, and the BP Texas City refinery explosion that killed 15 and injured hundreds more.

Scott has moderated congressional debates and served as an analyst of Texas politics.  He's also appeared on many television programs, including appearances on CNN, Fox News Channel, and other national broadcasts.

In honor of his many years of service to the Houston community, Houston Mayor Bill White declared Scott's final day in Houston as "Scott Braddock Day."

A Texas native, Scott began his radio career at the age of 16 in Brenham spinning records (yes, records) and reading school lunch menus on the air.  From that point forward, Scott was hooked.  He developed a passion for broadcast communication.  He was a disc jockey in Bryan/College Station and later transitioned into news reporting in both Washington State and California.

Scott was born in Wharton County and enjoys making trips back to his family farm.  Scott has two beautiful children:  Alex and Carolyn.

What They're Saying About Scott:

Jake Silverstein, Editor, Texas Monthly:

"In a news landscape increasingly overrun with shrill voices, Scott Braddock is a rare thing: a source of thoughtful commentary and fearless reporting that delivers real insights."

Evan Smith, Editor-in-Chief and CEO of the Texas Tribune:

"Scott Braddock is one of the two or three most important broadcast journalists covering politics and public policy in Texas — on air and online. His interviews are the ones everyone needs to hear; his commentary is thought-provoking; and he drives the news in every cycle he touches."

Wayne Slater, Senior Political Writer, Dallas Morning News:

"Hands down, one of the best interviewers in Texas. Scott Braddock knows his stuff and pity the poor politician who tries to get by on sound bites and talking points. When it comes to asking the questions that people want answers to, Scott's the man. His show's a must for anybody to keep up with the hottest issues of the day."

Bud Kennedy, Columnist, Fort Worth Star Telegram:

"Scott is the rare radio talk host who cares about telling both sides of a story, and he usually does that by finding good guests with strong opinions. He brings a little bit of reason to talk radio, and now he has a nightly showcase to cover the best stories of the day."

Jim McGrath, Speechwriter for President George H. W. Bush:

"The secret why Scott Braddock is one of the most respected journalists going today is really no secret at all.  He does his homework; he focuses on the big issues that matter to us as Texans and Americans; and he executes his role as a dogged news gatherer with total professionalism — and without bias.  He is a credit to the tradition of great radio and print (or, in Scott's case, online) reporters hailing from the Lone Star State."

Glenn W. Smith, Former Adviser to Texas Governor Ann Richards:

"Scott Braddock is a rarity in journalism and radio. He's driven by a keen instinct for truth. Nonsense, whether from the left or the right, has no place on his show. And that means his listeners are among the best informed in all of radioland."

Dave Levinthal, Center for Responsive Politics:

"Highlighting the influence of money in politics is absolutely critical to effectively monitoring our elected officials' actions.  Few in radio do this as consistently, or as well, as Scott Braddock. If you want to follow the money, follow Scott."
