3 Months Later, Still No Answers In Murder Of Arlington Couple

ARLINGTON (CBS 11 NEWS) - The family of 63-year-old Huong Ly and her 72-year-old husband, Long Nguyen, spent the day praying. It's been 100 days since the elderly couple was murdered in their Arlington apartment.

"That's tradition in our culture to kind of just go to temple and just remember the family and kind of send their soul to heaven," family spokesperson Cindy Dao explained.

But the ceremony brought no peace to the family. Police are still searching for the couple's killer.

It was late in the evening on June 10 and the pair had just arrived home from a birthday party.

"It seems that they may have been either approached as they came to their apartment complex and forced into their apartment, or the suspects could have been in their apartment when they got home," Arlington police Detective Bryan Stewart said.

The two were asphyxiated. Investigators say there were signs of a violent struggle.

According to authorities, some personal items were missing from the apartment but not anything that others would consider to be of great value. Police aren't sure if robbery was the motive.

"That's the biggest thing," Dao said. "Who and why? Why? The couple was so generous, so kind."

Police and the family are hoping someone -- even a family member of the killer -- will come forward with information.

"I know that's a reach and asking for a lot," Stewart said. "But anybody who has the courage to come forward in this case can really bring closure not only to that community out there but also to that family."

"This is someone's mom, someone's father, someone's brother and sister," Dao said. "And we'd like to bury them with the peace of mind of knowing why. And who."

Police are asking anyone with information about the murders to call Crimestoppers at (817) 469-TIPS (8477).
