"Winning is everything. That's all anyone in here cares about," catcher Grayson Greiner said. "It's been a rough stretch. I don't know how many games in a row that I've caught that we lost. It felt really good to get a win."
Detroit has dropped 12 of 13. In addition to making two errors, one of which led to a pair of unearned runs, the Tigers allowed Hanser Alberto to scoot to second on a grounder up the middle because no one was covering the base.
Cooper hit a grand slam with two outs in the ninth inning and the Miami Marlins won their sixth in a row, rallying past Detroit 5-2 Thursday to finish a terrible homestand for the Tigers.
"It's just a really rough stretch right now," Detroit manager Ron Gardenhire said. "We'll think back to this day somewhere down the road here and say, 'Man that was brutal, let's not do that again.' But right now we're going through it."

JaCoby Jones hit a solo homer for the Tigers in the third, but Ramirez — playing his sixth major league game — answered with his solo home run an inning later. His teammates followed tradition by ignoring him when he got back to the dugout, so Ramirez playfully high-fived the air.

Wade Miley won his third straight start. This was the fourth time this season Houston has scored at least 10 runs in a game he pitched.
Aledmys Diaz, Robinson Chirinos, Jake Marisnick and Alex Bregman homered for Houston, and the Astros beat the Detroit Tigers 8-1 on Monday night, extending their winning streak to six games. Two of those homers came off Boyd, the Detroit lefty who is off to a fine start this season but lasted only four innings in his shortest start of the year.
Albert Pujols turned on a fastball over the middle of the plate, sent the no-doubt shot deep into the left-field seats, flipped his bat toward celebrating teammates in the dugout and trotted around the bases.
The Los Angeles Angels didn't get much accomplished against Detroit's left-hander after the game-opening blast and failed to prevent a second-year player from having his best performance at the plate.
"Gardy had an allergic reaction to something he ate or drank and the doctors wanted to make sure he was OK," Liddle said. "He didn't have trouble breathing or anything like that, but he broke out into hives and was swelling up a little. That can be serious, so they took him upstairs. He's fine now."
