David Price didn't walk a batter and struck out eight, while throwing only 93 pitches during the complete game shutout.
"He seems like he's in a good spot," Tigers manager Brad Ausmus said about Krol on Friday, "so we're hoping he helps us here."
"We're hoping he can go back there and regain the form, regain the movement on the sinker, work on the changeup," manager Brad Ausmus said.
Some starting pitchers rumored to be on the trade market this season include the Phillies' Cole Hamels, Scott Kazmir of the A's and the Reds' Johnny Cueto.
Over the span of his last three starts, Greene has allowed 16 ER in nine IP. His ERA has ballooned to 5.82, which is 55th among AL pitchers.
A possible reason why is that the team is responding to the latest ballot update, which listed seven Royals - and zero Tigers - as starters.
Krol has pitched in six games for the Tigers this season. He has a 4.76 ERA over 5 2/3 innings.
"He's just not where he was when the season started," Tigers manager Brad Ausmus said Wednesday after another ugly outing by Shane Greene.
