The banged-up Heat had little trouble with the Pistons even though they were without Dwyane Wade, Mario Chalmers, Ray Allen and Greg Oden.
Even as he smiled, James made it clear he found the idea of such a contract quite enticing.
"I understand the fan base - well," Gores said. "I grew up with it. It's in my blood. Trust me."
To be honest the Pistons Bad Boys title teams could be considered one of the greatest championship team in any of the four major sports over the past 40 years.
Several members of the Detroit Pistons' first two championship teams gathered Thursday for a fundraiser, but the man who still works for the team kept a low profile.
"We were tough by committee," McCarty said of his championship Red Wings team. "But they (the Pistons) had some bad ass dudes that loved playing. We both represented the city well."

Rodney Stuckey scored 23 and Andre Drummond had 13 points and 16 rebounds for the Pistons in their fourth overall loss and 12th straight on the road.
Greg Monroe scored 22 points to lead the Pistons, who lost their 11th in a row on the road.
Ben Wallace reportedly began serving a two-day jail sentence Tuesday after pleading no contest to a hit-and-run.
Drummond had been one of few bright spots for the Pistons this season.
