Warren Woman Found Guilty In Death Of Granddaughter

WARREN (WWJ) - A Warren woman has been found guilty but mentally ill in the strangulation of her 4-year-old granddaughter.

A jury rejected 54-year-old Dawn Yorke's insanity defense Friday in Macomb County Circuit Court. Yorke is expected to be sentenced to life behind bars and will receive psychological care while in prison.

She had been diagnosed with paranoid schizophrenia.

Yorke killed her grandaughter, Linda Steel, two years ago in the Warren home she shared with the girl's parents.
