Traffic Alert: Weekend Road Work

DETROIT (WWJ) - Know before you go! Metro Detroit freeways will be full of orange barrels this weekend, so save yourself some time and hassle by planning your route ahead of time to avoid the many work zones.

The following projects were announced by MDOT. As always, some of this work may be postponed due to weather.

I-94:

In Macomb County, eastbound and westbound I-94 will be reduced to a single lane between 23 Mile and County Line roads from 9 p.m. Friday until 5 a.m. Monday for ongoing road work.

In Detroit, eastbound and westbound I-94 will be reduced to a single lane between Michigan Avenue and West Grand Blvd from 9 p.m. Friday until 5 a.m. Monday for ongoing resurfacing and bridge work. In addition, the ramps from eastbound and westbound I-96 to westbound I-94, and northbound M-10 (Lodge Freeway) to westbound I-94 will be closed.

In Wayne County, eastbound I-94 will be reduced to a single lane from I-275 to Vining Road from 2 a.m. until 10 a.m. Saturday for ongoing bridge work and sign truss installation. In addition, the northbound and southbound Wayne Road ramps to eastbound I-94 will be closed and detoured.

In Wayne County, westbound I-94 will be reduced to a single lane from Oakwood Blvd to Outer Drive from 2 a.m. until 10 a.m. Sunday for ongoing bridge work and sign truss installation. In addition, the northbound and southbound Oakwood Blvd ramps to westbound I-94 will be closed.

I-75:

In Detroit, southbound I-75 will be reduced to one lane at State Fair Avenue from 1 a.m. until 5 a.m. Friday for sign removal.

In Oakland County, the left two lanes of southbound I-75 will be closed from Long Lake to Wattles roads from 8 p.m. Friday until 11 a.m. Saturday for pavement repair.

In Oakland County, the left two lanes of northbound I-75 will be closed from Baldwin to Sashabaw roads from 10 p.m. Friday until 4 p.m. Sunday for pavement repair.

In Detroit, the northbound I-75 CD roadway (access road to ramps at Rosa Parks and Lodge Fwy) will be closed from 9 p.m. Friday until 5 a.m. Monday for pavement repair. In addition, the eastbound I-96 ramp to Rosa Parks and the Lodge, the I-75 ramps to the Lodge, and northbound and southbound Lodge ramps to I-75 will be closed. Northbound I-75 mainline freeway into downtown Detroit will remain open.

I-375:

In Detroit, intermittent single and double lane closures on northbound and southbound I-375 between I-75 and Jefferson Avenue from 6 a.m. until 4 p.m. Saturday for maintenance.

I-96:

In Oakland County, eastbound I-96 will have a single lane closed at Kent Lake Road from 11 a.m. until 8 p.m. Friday for ongoing bridge work.

I-696:

In Macomb County, the right lane will be closed on the two-lane ramp from westbound I-696 to Mound Road from 9 a.m. until 3 p.m. Friday for sign work.

In Macomb County, a single lane will be closed on eastbound and westbound I-696 at Van Dyke from 9 p.m. Friday until noon Sunday for sign truss work.

M-10 (Northwestern Highway):

In Oakland County, southbound M-10 will be reduced to a single lane from 7 a.m. Saturday until 6 a.m. Monday for resurfacing.

In Oakland County, northbound M-10 will be reduced to a single lane from 9 a.m. Saturday until 6 a.m. Monday for resurfacing.

M-39 (Southfield Freeway):

In Wayne County, northbound and southbound M-39 will have multiple lane closures at I-94 from 9 p.m. Friday until 5 a.m. Monday for bridge demolition work at the I-94/M-39 interchange.

M-3 (Gratiot Ave):

In Macomb County, northbound M-3 will be reduced to a single lane from Harrington Road to Welts Street from 9 p.m. Thursday until 5 a.m. Monday for ongoing road work.

Scheduled to begin Monday, August 13:

I-94:

In Macomb County, eastbound and westbound I-94 will be reduced to a single lane nightly between 23 Mile and County Line roads, starting at 7 p.m. and ending by 6 a.m. the following mornings beginning Monday night and ending Friday morning for ongoing road work.

I-696:

In Oakland County, the right lane of westbound I-696 Service Drive at Evergreen Road will be closed daily starting at 9 a.m. and ending by 3 p.m. beginning Monday and ending Friday for sign replacement work.

In Oakland County, the right lane of the eastbound I-696 Service Drive at Manistee Street will be closed daily starting at 9 p.m. and ending by 3 p.m. beginning Monday and ending Friday for sign replacement work.
