Traffic Alert: Weekend Road Work
DETROIT (WWJ) - Know before you go! There's plenty of road work to go around this weekend in Metro Detroit. Save yourself some time and hassle by planning your route to avoid the many work zones.
The following projects were announced by MDOT. As always, some of this work may be postponed due to weather.
I-75:
In Detroit, northbound I-75 will be closed from I-96 to I-375 for extensive pavement repair. The full closure begins at 11 p.m. Friday and ends by 5 a.m. Monday. The posted is westbound I-96 to eastbound I-94 to northbound I-75.
Traffic heading to downtown Detroit can use eastbound I-94 to southbound M-10 (Lodge Fwy) or southbound I-75.
In Wayne County, the northbound I-75 exit to Outer Drive will be closed from 5 a.m. until 5 p.m. on Saturday for maintenance work.
In Oakland County, the left two lanes of southbound I-75 will be closed from Adams to Coolidge roads from 8 p.m. Saturday until 11 a.m. Sunday for pavement repair.
I-275:
In Wayne County, the two right lanes of southbound I-275 will be closed at I-94 from 10 p.m. Thursday until 5 a.m. Friday for bridge demolition.
In Wayne County, northbound I-275 will be reduced to a single lane at M-14/I-96 interchange from 9 p.m. Saturday until 5 a.m. Sunday for bridge work.
In Oakland County, the right lane of northbound I-275 will be closed from 9 Mile to 10 Mile roads from 7 a.m. until 7 p.m. Saturday for maintenance work.
I-375:
In Detroit, the right lane of northbound I-375 will be closed under Larned Street from 9 p.m. Friday until early Sept. for extensive bridge repair.
In Detroit, the northbound I-375 ramp to Gratiot Ave will be closed from 9 p.m. Friday until 5 a.m. Monday. A detour will be posted.
I-696:
In Macomb County, the left lane of westbound I-696 will be closed just west of Ryan Road from 9 a.m. until 3 p.m. Friday, and again from 5 a.m. until 3 p.m. Saturday for sign truss work.
I-96:
In Oakland County, the right lane of westbound I-96 will be closed near Milford Road from 7 a.m. until noon on Friday for ongoing bridge work.
In Oakland County, eastbound I-96 will have two lanes closed at Milford Road from 6 a.m. until 7 p.m. on Saturday for ongoing bridge work.
In Oakland County, westbound I-96 will have two lanes closed from South Hill to Milford roads from 6 a.m. until 7 p.m. Sunday for bridge work.
I-94:
In Wayne County, eastbound I-94 will have the right lane closed at Hannan Road from 9 a.m. until 3 p.m. Friday for bridge work. On Saturday, the left two lanes will be closed from 6 a.m. until 3 p.m.
In Wayne County, eastbound I-94 will have two lanes closed from Michigan Ave to Martin Street, and westbound I-94 will have two lanes closed from Warren Ave to Wier Road from 9 p.m. Thursday until 5 a.m. Friday for ongoing bridge work.
In Wayne County, the two left lanes of eastbound and westbound I-94 will be closed between Oakwood Boulevard and Telegraph Road from 10 p.m. Friday until 5 a.m. Monday for ongoing bridge work and pavement repair.
In Wayne County, the left two lanes of eastbound and westbound I-94 will be closed between Michigan Avenue and West Grand Boulevard from 9 p.m. Friday until 5 a.m. Monday for ongoing bridge work and resurfacing. In addition, the ramps from I-96 and northbound Lodge to westbound I-94 will be closed during the same time frame.
In Macomb County, the M-19 (New Haven Road) entrance ramp to westbound I-94, and the M-29 (23 Mile Road) exit from westbound I-94 will be closed at 9 p.m. Friday until late July for extensive pavement repair. Detours for each ramp will be posted.
M-10 (Northwestern Highway):
In Oakland County, a single lane will be closed on northbound and southbound M-10 between Orchard Lake and Inkster roads from 7 a.m. Saturday until 7 p.m. Sunday for ongoing road work.
M-59:
In Macomb County, two lanes will be closed on eastbound M-59 from Van Dyke Ave to Hayes Road from 9 p.m. Saturday until 5 a.m. Tuesday for pavement repair.
M-39 (Southfield Freeway):
In Detroit, the ramp from Joy Road to southbound M-39 will be closed from 8 p.m. Friday until 8 p.m. Saturday for maintenance work.
In Wayne County, the northbound M-39 ramps at Ford Road will be closed from 8 p.m. Saturday until 8 p.m. Sunday for maintenance work.
Starting Monday, July 16:
I-75:
In Oakland County, beginning Monday northbound I-75 will have nightly double lane closures beginning at 9 p.m. and ending by 5 a.m. the following morning from Joslyn Road to M-15 for pavement repair.
