Traffic Alert: Weekend Road Work
DETROIT (WWJ) - Know before you go! There's plenty of road work to go around this weekend in Metro Detroit. Save yourself some time and hassle by planning your route to avoid the many work zones.
The following projects were announced by MDOT. As always, some of this work may be postponed due to weather.
I-275:
In Wayne County, northbound and southbound I-275 from Joy Road to Plymouth Road will have a single lane open from 10 a.m. until 2 p.m. Friday for ongoing bridge work.
In Oakland County, northbound I-275 will have the right lane closed from 9 Mile Road to 10 Mile Road from 7 a.m. until 7 p.m. Saturday for maintenance work.
I-75:
In Oakland County, only one lane will be open on northbound I-75 from Joslyn Road to Sashabaw Road from 9 p.m. Friday until 2 p.m. Sunday for extensive pavement repairs.
In Wayne County, the southbound I-75 ramp at Eureka Road will be closed from midnight Saturday until 5 p.m. Sunday for repairs.
In Wayne County, the eastbound Eureka Road ramp to southbound I-75 is closed from midnight Saturday until 5 p.m. Sunday for repairs. Take northbound I-75 to the Northline/Allen Road exit and then go north on Allen to southbound I-75. Also, there will be a single-lane closure on eastbound Eureka Road at southbound I-75 at the same time.
I-94:
In Detroit, eastbound and westbound I-94 will have a single lane open between Michigan Avenue and I-96 from 9 p.m. Friday until 5 a.m. Monday for ongoing resurfacing and bridge work. The following also will be closed:
- Eastbound I-94 ramp to West Grand Boulevard
- Eastbound and westbound I-96 ramps to westbound I-94
- All entrance ramps within the closure limits
In Wayne County, westbound I-94 from Wayne Road to Haggerty Road will have a single lane open from 8 p.m. to 5 a.m. on Friday. The northbound Wayne Road entrance ramp to westbound I-94 will also be closed.
In Macomb County, eastbound I-94 from M-29 (23 Mile Road) to County Line Road will have a single-lane closure from 9 p.m. Friday until 6 a.m. Sunday for reconstruction.
I-696:
In Macomb County, the ramp from M-97 to eastbound I-696, and the ramp from westbound I-696 to M-97, will be closed from 8 p.m. Friday until 8 p.m. Sunday for reconstruction.
M-39 (Southfield Freeway):
In Wayne County, northbound M-39 from Allen Road to Van Born Road, and southbound M-39 from Oakwood Boulevard to Pinecrest Drive, will be reduced to a single lane from 5 a.m. Saturday until 7 p.m. Sunday for ongoing bridge work at the I-94/M-39 interchange.
M-59:
In Macomb County, two lanes will be closed on eastbound M-59 from Van Dyke Avenue to Hayes Road from 9 p.m. Saturday until 5 a.m. Tuesday for pavement repairs.
M-14:
In Wayne County, eastbound and westbound M-14 between Sheldon Road and Napier Road will be reduced to a single lane from 8 p.m. on Friday until noon on Saturday.
M-10 (Northwestern Highway):
In Oakland County, northbound and southbound M-10 will have single-lane closures between Orchard Lake Road and Inkster Road from 6 a.m. Saturday until 7 p.m. Sunday for pavement repairs.
Old M-14 (Plymouth Road):
In Wayne County, eastbound and westbound Plymouth Road between Market Street and Farmington Road is reduced to a single lane through Wednesday, July 11, at 8 a.m. for ongoing resurfacing work.
M-150 (Rochester Road):
In Oakland County, northbound and southbound Rochester Road between Old Towne Road and University Drive is closed until July 20.
M-102 (8 Mile Road):
In Wayne County, eastbound M-102 at US-24 will have a single left-lane closure on Saturday from 5 a.m. until 5 p.m. for construction.
Beginning the week of Monday, July 9:
I-94/I-275:
In Wayne County, the Hannan Road bridge over I-275 will be closed from 9 a.m. Monday through late August for bridge work.
In Wayne County, eastbound and westbound I-94 ramps to northbound I-275 will be closed from 10 p.m. on Monday until 5 a.m. on Tuesday for bridge work.
In Wayne County, the right lane of northbound Wayne Road under eastbound I-94 will be closed from 9 a.m. until 3 p.m. Monday for sign work.
I-94/M-39:
In Wayne County, the westbound I-94 ramp to southbound M-39 will be closed from 9 a.m. Monday, July 9, until Wednesday, July 25, for ongoing bridge work. In addition, the westbound I-94 ramp to Pelham Road will be closed at the same time.
I-275:
In Wayne County, northbound I-275 from Koppernick to Ann Arbor Trail will have a single-lane closure daily from 9 a.m. until 3 p.m. Monday, July 9, through Saturday, July 21.
I-375:
In Detroit, northbound I-375 under Larned will have a single-lane closure nightly from 7 p.m. until 6 a.m. Monday, July 9, through Monday, July 16.
