Traffic Alert: Weekend Road Work

DETROIT (WWJ) - Know before you go! Don't let construction activities spoil your weekend plans. Before heading out, check traffic conditions and plan your route to avoid backups.

The following projects were announced by MDOT. As always, some of this work may be postponed due to weather.

I-94:

In Detroit, the right and center lanes of westbound I-94 will be closed from Cadieux to Conner from 9 p.m. Friday until 8 a.m. Saturday, for ongoing bridge work.

In Detroit, the left lane of eastbound I-94 will be closed from Conner to Cadieux from 8 a.m. until 9 p.m. Saturday for bridge work.

In Detroit, the right and center lanes of westbound I-94 will be closed from Cadieux to Conner from 9 p.m. Saturday until 8 a.m. Sunday for bridge work.

In Detroit, the left lane of eastbound I-94 will be closed from Outer Drive to Lochmoor from 8 a.m. until 9 p.m. Sunday for ongoing bridge work.

In Detroit, the right and center lanes of westbound I-94 will be closed from Lochmoor to Outer Drive from 9 p.m. Sunday until 5 a.m. Monday for bridge work.

In Detroit, eastbound I-94 will have a rolling right and center lane closure from Wyoming to I-96 from 9 a.m. until 5 p.m. Saturday for pavement repair.

In Detroit, westbound I-94 will have a rolling two lane closure from M-10 to Miller Road from 8 a.m. until 5 p.m. Saturday for detailed bridge inspections.

In Detroit, eastbound I-94 will have a rolling two lane closure from Cecil to Gratiot from 8 a.m. until 5 p.m. Sunday for detailed bridge inspections.

In Wayne County, westbound I-94 will have the right and center lanes closed at Belleville Road from 5 p.m. Saturday until Noon on Sunday for ongoing bridge work.

I-696:

In Macomb County, eastbound and westbound I-696 will have the left lane closed at Mound Road from 9 p.m. Friday until 9 p.m. Saturday for sign foundation work.

In Macomb County, the right two lanes of eastbound and westbound I-696 will be closed between Van Dyke and Groesbeck from 7 a.m. until 5 p.m. Sunday for bridge work.

I-75:

In Detroit, southbound I-75 will have two lanes closed at Davison Ave from 7 a.m. until 7 p.m. Saturday for pavement repair.

In Oakland County, northbound I-75 will have a fifteen minute total closure at Dixie Highway, and the ramp from northbound I-75 to Dixie Highway will be closed, from 6 a.m. until 10 a.m. on Sunday to string a new utility line over the freeway.

I-275:

In Wayne County, the right and center lanes of northbound I-275 will be closed from Michigan Avenue to Cherry Hill from 5 p.m. Saturday until noon Sunday for pavement repair.

In Wayne County, the right and center lanes of southbound I-275 will be closed from Michigan Avenue to Van Born from 5 p.m. Saturday until noon Sunday for pavement repair.

M-5:

In Oakland County, northbound M-5 will have a fifteen-minute total closure between 6 a.m. until 10 a.m. on Saturday from Maple to Pontiac Trail in order to install a sign truss over all lanes. Access to the median crossover just north of Maple will be maintained during the full closure.

M-39 (Southfield Freeway):

In Oakland and Wayne counties, southbound M-39 will have a single lane closed from M-10 to 7 Mile Road from 5 a.m. until 10 p.m. on Saturday. Northbound M-39 will have two lanes closed from 7 Mile to M-10 from 5 a.m. to noon on Saturday. From Noon until 10 p.m. a single lane will be closed.

In Oakland and Wayne counties, southbound M-39 will have two lanes closed from M-10 to 7 Mile Road from 5 a.m. until noon on Sunday. From noon until 10 p.m. only a single lane will be closed.

M-97 (Groesbeck Highway):

In Macomb County, the Groesbeck overpass above I-696 will be closed from 12 a.m. until 5 a.m. on Saturday and Sunday for ongoing repair. During the overnight full closures, a detour will be posted.

US-24 (Telegraph Road):

In Detroit, maintenance work will require the left two lanes of northbound and southbound Telegraph to be closed from 7 Mile to 8 Mile roads from 9 p.m. Friday until 6 a.m. Saturday. The right two lanes will be closed in the same location from 9 p.m. Saturday until 6 a.m. Sunday.

On Monday, November 7:

In Detroit, southbound M-39 will have two lanes closed near Ford Road from 9 a.m. until 3 p.m. Monday for pavement work.
