Thieves Take 3 Air Conditioners Off Church Roof

FLINT (WWJ/AP) - It could be a warm Sunday at a Roman Catholic church in Flint.

Three air conditioners were stolen from the roof of Our Lady of Guadalupe Church.

Rev. Cecilio Reyna told The Flint Journal that the units were stolen Thursday night or early Friday morning. He said he believes the units were stolen while it was dark outside.

"That they were up there and they got all three of them would mean they were up there for over an hour," Reyna said. "None of the neighbors saw anything."

The church, located on West Coldwater Road, has insurance to get new air conditioners, which will cost about $30,000 or $40,000.

On the church's Facebook page, the pastor wrote, "God bless and heal those who did it!"

Flint-area churches of all faiths have been hit by thieves who take air conditioners or the copper pipes inside them.
