This week on Street Beat, host Karen Carter looks at what local organizations are doing to help care for and treat wild and domestic animals around Michigan.

First, Scott Carter, Chief Life Sciences Officer for the Detroit Zoological Society and Julie Geisinger, their Fundraising Events Manager, explain the zoo's conservation efforts.

Then, Diane Miller, The Chief Program Officer for the Detroit Zoological Society, explains how The Berman Academy for Humane Education helps people help animals through different programs and activities.

Next, Carter learns about The Sanctuary and Safe Haven for Animals Farm from Board Chairman Bob Harvie and Marilyn Groves Royle, the Treasurer of the Board of Directors of SASHA and long-time volunteer.

Finally, Anna Chrisman, The Public Relations Coordinator for the Michigan Humane Society, talks about animal adoption and pet rescue.
