Stay Sharp On Simple Math Skills
To keep your child's math skills sharp, and to help you hang on to your math abilities, try doing some calculations every day.
Simple ones to try include racing the cash register to determine the change you are to receive, estimate the number of days left before your birthday, or calculate the number of hours left in the school or workweek.
For a more difficult problem, count a small section of people at a concert, and try to estimate the total attendance. These types of problems, called mental math, help students review the basics of addition, subtraction, multiplication and division on a daily basis.
