Snyder Touts Success Of 'Pure Michigan Business Connect'

NOVI (WWJ) - Michigan Governor Rick Snyder stopped by Novi with some news about a growing program to help local businesses succeed.

Snyder was a guest Friday at the Global Access Export Forum, covering a range of topics including federal and state export finance resources, the new State of Michigan Step Program, and export research tools and solutions.

In his remarks, Gov. Snyder promoted the Pure Michigan Business Connect program, which was launched during the Mackinac Police Conference over the summer.

"When we initially started we said it could be a $3 billion program, in terms of what it was doing," said Snyder.

"Today I'm very pleased to annouce, particularly with Fifth Third stepping up, along with a number of other people, that program, that program that was a $3 billion program just six months ago is now gonna be an $8 billion program," he said.

The program, which dubuted in June, how has 700 businesses signed up. It aids companies in buying, selling and finding capital and with networking.
